Scott W. Sexton was admitted to the Kansas Bar and to practice before U.S. District Court, District of Kansas in 2003. He began his legal career serving as Assistant General Counsel for the state of Kansas' Public Employee Retirement System (KPERS) where he was first exposed to the areas of Long Term Care Planning and Elder Law. In 2004, he joined Scott, Quinlan, Willard, Barnes & Keeshan LLC, a private general practice law firm in Topeka where he continued working with families as an Estate Planning Attorney. In 2009, Mr. Sexton founded The Law Office of Scott W. Sexton, PA a niche firm focused on providing comprehensive Long Term Care Planning work to families throughout Kansas.
The Law Office of Scott W. Sexton practices primarily in the areas of estate planning, veteran’s planning, elder law and long-term care planning (including Medicaid planning). In 2012, so as to better serve an increasingly underserved elderly veteran population, Mr. Sexton founded Sexton & Associates, Inc., a consulting firm dedicated to providing advisory and application services to veterans seeking VA benefits.
Mr. Sexton is licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas, the Federal U.S. District Court of Kansas, is VA accredited so as to practice law before the VA represent clients Federal matters, and has completed TRIP training before the VA which is the highest level of education and accreditation offered to private attorneys by the VA.
Mr. Sexton is a lifetime resident of Kansas. He lives in Silver Lake, Kansas with his wife, and twin children. In his spare time he is an avid reader and enjoys partaking in his children’s’ many extra circular activities.
